Swedish ID-Kort

In Sweden, ID-Kort (Identity Cards) are issued by the Swedish Police Authority. The ID-Kort is a personal identification document for Swedish citizens, enabling them to travel within the EU and to countries that have agreements with Sweden regarding identity documents.

The ID-Kort is also used as an identification document for a variety of services, such as opening bank accounts, voting, and accessing healthcare. The card is valid for five years and contains the holder's photograph, name, personal number, and signature.

To apply for an ID-Kort, you need to visit a police station in person and provide a valid passport, Swedish driver's license, or a national ID card as proof of identity. There is a fee (400kr price in 2023) for processing the application, which can be paid by card or cash.
